My water pipes talk to me

Dear Aunties,

Sometimes, when I'm trying to sleep, my water pipes make clanking noises. I can't help thinking that it might be the ghost of my old greengrocer trying to tell me something. What might the following pattern mean?

"Clank. Clank. Ting-ting-clank. Rattle. Clank. Clank. Clank. Clank. T-t-t-ting!"

Dear Molly,

It is indeed the spirit of your former greengrocer. He is trying to say:

"How many cucumbers would you like to clank?"
